Oral Communications is designed to prepare students to become more effective communicators in today’s society by improving relevant skills in speaking, listening, and critical thinking. Objectives include communication theory, interpersonal and intrapersonal communication, public speaking, research and information analysis, outlining, career orientation, social skills, and processes of group interaction. Emphasis is placed on the appropriateness of language in all types of communication settings. Classroom activities emphasize the development of confidence and self-esteem in practical life situations. This course is designed for students who perform at grade level in their reading and language arts skills.
